Dark Chocolate Covered Mixed Nuts with Sea Salt. That’s a almost whole sentence for a tiny snack. No, not tiny, it’s a mighty snack. And I’ll better warn you straight away: these are highly addictive!
I’m kind of embarrassed to actually post a recipe for this. Can’t really call it a recipe, but they are so good, I just have to share this with you.
It’s really just a bag of mixed nuts (take whatever nuts you like), dumped in a bowl of melted chocolate, stirred to get all covered, spread out on a tray, sprinkled with sea salt and voilà… your snack is ready.
For these chocolate covered nuts, you can use any chocolate you like. I love a really dark chocolate, with at least 85 or 90% cocoa. But less is fine as well. If you are doing low-carb or want sugar-free, make sure to read the labels. The sugar content in even 85% dark chocolate can vary from just a few grams per 100 g chocolate to 20-30g sugar per 100g.
I have found this 90% Lindt chocolate, that has only 7g sugar per 100g. Especially if you use it in cooking, this chocolate is also suitable for those on a low-carb diet. This recipe uses 200g of mixed nuts and 100g of chocolate. Per serving, the sugar is almost nothing. Unless you eat the whole bowl in one serving. No, I’m not confessing to anything… ?
Sometimes, I use sugar-free chocolate, but that is sweetened (with sugar substitutes). This 90% chocolate may require a certain taste. It is quite bitter, but I love it pure with a good cup of coffee or on these nuts with a sprinkle of sea salt. For me, that’s a match made in heaven.
