Rice Krispies Easter Nests

Rice Krispies Easter Nests

These colorful little Easter Nests are definitely a kid’s favorite and so easy to make!

This can hardly be called a recipe, it’s more an edible DYI idea. Since it was such huge hit in our house, I simply have to share. This is really easy. You don’t have to be a good cook or baker to do this. And the kids will be so thrilled! The adults too, believe me. Had a hard time keeping my husband away from them 😉

Now I made these for Easter, adding green to resemble grass and add Easter themed M&M’s as little eggs. But you can adapt this to any occasion. Change the type of chocolate, add a different color (if any at all), add different cereals or smashed cookies.

What you’ll need

100 g white chocolate

1 tsp coconut oil

50 g unsweetened Rice Krispies (that is about 2 cups)

green food coloring

M&M’s

Peanut M&M’s would be best as they are more egg shaped. But our oldest son absolutely hates peanuts, so I used just chocolate M&M’s.

Instructions

Melt the chocolate with the coconut oil. Mix well and add a few drops of food coloring. You’ll see in the recipe’s pictures that I added the coloring AFTER I added the rice krispies. That’s because I forgot to add it (oops). Luckily, that still worked out. But it’s a lot easier to mix if added before.

Once you’ve reached the desired color, mix in the rice krispies.

Line a baking sheet or large plate with parchment paper and, using a tablespoon, drop little mounds on the sheet. Then press in 3 M&M’s and put the sheet or plate in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes.

The result: cute little Easter Nests.

They can be kept at room temperature, but if it’s warm where you are, they are best kept refrigerated. Not that temperature really mattered. They were gone before I could bat my eye lashes.

Enjoy!
